I want to know what as seen on tv products are worth buyingsuch as stick on bulbs etc.

How do you know when to trust an as-seen-on-tv product?
I just read a question on here about sham-wows and I was dissapointed that everyone said they didn’t work that well. Have you ever bought a product like that that you really liked? Or that worked just as it had been advertised. I actually bought some mighty putty the other day and my husband used it to fix a water pipe that had broken in two and it worked. So apparantly some of them do work like they say. But which ones?
